This week marked the initial phase of developing the meat sales platform, focusing on setting up the foundational elements of the website. I began by designing the user interface (UI), categorizing meat products into five primary groups: beef, pork, mutton, poultry, and seafood. The goal was to create an intuitive and visually appealing layout that would make it easy for customers to navigate the platform and find the products they are interested in.
Once the basic structure was established, I added essential features like the shopping cart, enabling customers to select multiple products and manage their purchases before proceeding to checkout. The transaction history interface was also designed, providing customers with a clear record of their past purchases, which is crucial for transparency and user trust.
Midweek, I integrated a simulated payment system, which allowed me to test the user experience of the checkout process before implementing a real payment gateway. This mock system helped identify potential issues in the transaction flow and provided insights for further refinement. Additionally, I started collecting and organizing product information and images, which are essential for creating a rich and engaging user experience.
Toward the end of the week, I focused on building the database to store all product details, including ID, category, name, image, description, weight, quantity, and price. Integrating this database with the front-end website was a significant milestone, as it enabled the dynamic display of product information, ensuring that the website remains up-to-date with the latest offerings. I also tested the database queries to ensure efficient and accurate data retrieval.
Overall, this week was productive, laying the groundwork for a robust and user-friendly meat sales platform. The focus was on building the core functionalities and ensuring a seamless interaction between the front-end and back-end systems.
