Viterbo University will host its annual Fired Up for Science event from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the D.B. and Marge Reinhart Center on campus.
STEM faculty and students will conduct a variety of interactive and visually appealing experiments that will entertain, inform and appeal to those 3-14, according to the university press release.
Participants sign in at the Skogen Welcome Center in the Reinhart Center. From there, they can chart their own course through more than a dozen areas that highlight the lighter side of science. Experiments range from soda-and-Mentos geysers and “whoosh bubbles” to “elephant toothpaste,” “rainbow milk,” strawberry DNA, slime, and interesting critters.
“Fired Up for Science is one of the highlights of the year for us because it gives us a chance to spark an interest in science that could put young people on a rewarding path of becoming more curious about the world around them,” said Scott Gabriel, biochemistry professor.
