BUK 2024/2025 Post UTME Form and Screening Information

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) 2024/2025 Post UTME screening form for all UTME admission-seeking candidates is now available and has been announced by the institution. All concerned aspirants and interested members of the public that wish to study in the institution are hereby notified and advised to procure their forms as soon as possible.

According to the school’s management and authorities, the process of registering candidates for 2024/2025 Post UTME Screening Exercise registration has commenced in the Bayero University, Kano (BUK). The details of the registration, cut off mark have been released likewise.

BUK Post UTME Details Announcement

BUK Post-UTME Registration, Cut-off mark, screening date, application cost and deadline for the 2024/2025 academic session have been announced. General cut-off mark is 180 (Check below for the specific cut-of mark of your faculty). Online Registration will commence on Monday, 30th September and close on Sunday, 1st December, 2024.

BUK Post UTME Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who applied for admissions into Bayero University, Kano in the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (UTME) should be screened;

How to Apply for BUK Post UTME Screening

Step 1: Login – At the homepage of the Bayero University website www.buk.edu.ng click on 2024 UTME ONLINE SCREENING EXERCISE

Step 2: Profile Update – UTME candidates can login using UTME Registration Number as username and UTME aggregate score as password to login.You should then fill-in the provided form noting that the photograph uploaded from JAMB will be the only valid ID for all admitted candidates throughout their stay in Bayero University, Kano.

Step 3: Generation of BUK PPI – Generate and download your Personalised Payment Invoice (PPI).

The invoice will come with Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) for the sum of N2,000.00 being cost of screening. Applicants have an option of paying online using Credit/Debit Card, Internet Banking, or printing the invoice and using it to pay at any Commercial Bank nationwide. Note that after successful online payment, acknowledgement slip can instantly be generated and printed. In case of bank payment, the payment have to be processed by the candidate using the provided “check your payment” button on the site, before acknowledgement card can be printed.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

The online registration will commence on Monday, 30th September and close on Sunday, 1st December, 2024.

Things to Note:

1. Candidates are advised to visit any JAMB Office or accredited CBT centre nearest to them to upload their ‘O’ Level result(s) (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS or equivalent) on JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Only candidates who have done so could be proposed and recommended to JAMB for approval.
2. Supplying false information will result in disqualification.
3. You are allowed to supply a maximum of two different ‘O’ Level examination results.
4. Blind and foreign candidates are exempted from the aptitude test. However, they need to do the online registration.
5. If you have any inquiry or are encountering any difficulty, write to the email provided on the portal.
6. Any candidate who fails to register for the screening exercise within the stipulated date will not be considered.

BUK General Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Students applying to Bayero University are categorized into several groups based on type/level of degree been sort after. There two broad levels namely Undergraduate and Postgraduate applicants.

Undergraduate Application

This category of applicants must have a Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent. Depending on the additional qualification possesed by an applicant, there are three ways to apply.

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Prospective candidates must have sat for the UTME Examinations, must have applied for a course in Bayero University, Kano and must have scored an aggregate to be determined by the University before they are deemed eligible in subjects relevant to the programme applied for.

Prospective candidates must have obtained a minimum of Five (5) passes at Credit level in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE or Equivalent) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examinations Council (NECO) in not more than two (2) sittings, including a pass at credit level in both English and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen field of study. They would then be required to register and write a test (Post -UTME) which is conducted by the University.

Direct Entry

Applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to the regular full-time undergraduate admissions. This means that credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied, while Mathematics is necessary for science based courses and the social sciences. Holders of ‘A’ Level certificate would be required to submit their credentials for screening.

Part-time Degree

The general entry requirements for the Part-time degree programmes are OND (with merit), NCE, IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points), GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits) and HND (Pass). In addition to the ‘A’ Level qualifications stated above, applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to the regular full time undergraduate admissions. This means that credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied, while Mathematics is necessary for science based courses and the social sciences.  Only candidates of twenty-five (25) years of age and above would be admitted. Candidates with only ‘O’ level results need not apply.

About BUK

The seed of Bayero University Kano was the Ahmadu Bello College set up in 1960, located within the School for Arabic Studies (SAS), in the old city of Kano. With the establishment of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1962, it was renamed Abdullahi Bayero College.

In 1964 it moved to a temporary site at the old Kano Airport Hotel, admitting its first set of ten undergraduate students for a B.A. degree programme of Ahmadu Bello University.

This first set graduated in 1966 but it continued as a faculty of ABU until 1980. Before then the temporary site had attracted hostile fire during the civil war and had to move to its permanent site (present old campus) in the vicinity of Kabuga and Dukawuya gates on the Kano-Gwarzo road.

The next phase of development occurred in 1975, when Abdullahi Bayero College was raised to the status of a University College with the right to award degrees on behalf of Ahmadu Bello University and was renamed Abdullahi Bayero University College, with its own Governing Council.

All University Colleges in the country were raised to the status of fullfledged universities in 1977 by the Federal Government and Abdullahi Bayero University College became Bayero University, Kano (BUK) (backed by the promulgation of BUK Decree no 79 of 1979).

Dr. Mahmud Tukur, the Principal of the University College became its pioneer Vice-Chancellor (1977-78) leading the team that laid the foundation and initiated the process that gave rise to the present permanent site and the shape of the university as we know it today.

The following had all been Vice Chancellors of Bayero University Kano after Dr. Mahmud Tukur: Prof. James O.C. Ezeilo (1978- 79), Prof. Ibrahim H. Umar (1979-86), Prof. Dandatti Abdulkadir (1986-91), Prof. M. S. Zahraddeen (1991-95), Prof. B.B. Dambatta (1995-99), Prof. Musa Abdullahi (1999-2004), Prof. Danjuma A. Maiwada (Acting VC, 2004- 05), and Prof. Attahiru M. Jega (2005-July 2010), Prof. A.A Rasheed (acting July-September 2010, confirmed September 2010 to date).
