Bauchi: Education ministry staff warned against spreading unverified information

Educators and different employees of the Bauchi State Ministry of Training have been warned to desist from posting unverified and unverifiable data on social media, which might dent the integrity of the federal government.

The warning was contained in a press release by the Ministry by the Info Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, titled ‘Pressing Consideration: Accountable Social Media Sharing Amongst Educators’, copies of which had been made accessible to journalists on Sunday.

The assertion reads: “Expensive esteemed lecturers and Ministry of Training Employees, as valued members of the training system in Bauchi State, we should uphold the integrity and credibility of our occupation always.”

The Ministry acknowledged that “it has come to our consideration that there have been situations of sharing unverified data on social media platforms.”

“Whereas social media could be a highly effective device for communication, it’s crucial that we train warning and accountability in what we share. Spreading unverified data can result in misinformation and tarnish the repute of our training system,” it careworn.

The Ministry additional careworn that as educators and representatives of the Ministry of Training, it’s our responsibility to advertise correct data and uphold the requirements of integrity inside our occupation.”

It suggested, “Allow us to prioritise fact-checking and guaranteeing the accuracy of the knowledge earlier than sharing it with others.”
